xSetup.tcl broken, xMind stable build

When I tried to install xMind for a friend today I realized that xSetup.tcl was completly broken (6+ bugs), well I fixed all bugs, the script should work again now. As the dailybuild did not seem to be the best way to distribute new versions any more, I decided to create a stablebuild, that will only be packed if all changes seem to work properly. Get the stable build here.

TickleJack presentation

Today we as a group had to present the TickleJack projekt to a rather bored classroom, we were the last people to present and it was already late so noone really listened I recon. Anyways, the project’s page has been online for quite some time and I can not recall that there has been an announcement on geek\o/spehere so far. TickleJack is a multiplayer BlackJack cardgame (client / server model), which is kinda based on the Battleships system, some parts of the Battleships code are reused but due to the fact that TickleJack is the second game developed using the client/server model, improovements are made, in order to increase code and usability.

TickleJack is an ITP project for the Technikum Wien and therefore there are loads of planning documents (including meeting protocols, a project plan and presentations), everything can be found here. The project is released under the terms of the GPL V2 the sourcecode can be downloaded from the project dir.

Our team:
Markus G. (Project leader)
Matthias W. (Client design)
Patrick S. (Server design)

Simple calculator written in TK

I was fooling around with TK (Tool Kit) yesterday and today and wrote a small and very simple application. It is nothing more than a usual calculator, which is able to perform basic arithmetic operations (+ - * /). If you want to use it or check it out you will need to install tcl8.4 and tk8.4 on your system. The Programm will not be developed any further, unless you people really want me to enhance it (It’s just some exercise Software anyway :>).

    Battleships beta version release

I have just finished the last bit of the battleships console client and server. It is a beta and might be full of bugs, PLEASE let me know if you find any. My email, our channel, the install instructions and greetings to some very special internet people are included in the readmefile. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask, if you need live support join our channel, if you don’t have an IRC client just use our webchat. As I said before, bugreports are greatly appriciated! Btw you will need TCL8.4 and tcllib to run the game, refer to the readme for further instructions, additionally, I know that the colors might be a bit confusing, I will change them in the next release.

The GUI client is not finished yet but will also be included in the next release.
